All city agencies and committees hold public meetings, publish agendas, minutes and, in some cases, recordings. Some agencies and committees hold meetings on a regular schedule, others hold meetings as needed. The city also closes all offices for holidays and currently every other Friday. There is currently no central calendar that contains all of this information with the ability to add specific meetings to residents personal calendars.
City agency agendas can be long and/or include multiple attachments; especially city council, lodi improvement committee, the planning commission and the site plan and architecture commission. Site search on lodi.gov is not robust enough to provide a good view of document content across council and committees agendas and attachments. Major search engines aren't indexing lodi.gov agendas and attachments either. Many citizens don't have the time to read agendas and attachments and so don't engage with council or city committees to express their options or gain an understanding of city plans, priorities and budgets.
